The Hitachi H600AB Analytical Transmission Electron Microscope (AEM) at Gelles Laboratories Division of CC Technologies is a powerful instrument that provides the user with a combination of morphological, crystallographic, and chemical information. This instrument is capable of revealing the microstructural features of thin samples at extremely high magnifications and extracting chemical and crystallographic information from regions as fine as a few tens of nanometers in dimension.

Among its features are:
Selected Area Electron Diffraction (SAD)
Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS)
25 to 100 KV Accelerating Voltage
LaB6 Electron Gun
Probe Size from 10 Nanometers to 2 Micrometers
80X to 300,000X Magnification
Bright or Dark Field
Eucentric Goniometer Stage with ± 60° Tilt and ± 180° Rotation
Photographic Recording of Images and Diffraction Patterns

Our AEM has been utilized extensively to analyze samples for airborne asbestos and to provide analytical information about the size, chemistry and morphology of submicron particles. It has been utilized to identify the constituents involved in corrosion reactions and to study the morphology of fractures and specially treated surfaces through use of replication methods.
