Elastomers
used for sealing applications are often overlooked components
during the design phase of a construction project until failure
occurs. Such factors as temperature (both upper and lower
extremes), pressure, chemical environment, and mechanical
loading, as well as rapid changes in these factors, can lead
to catastrophic failure. The same factors can affect non-sealing
elastomers in hoses, tank linings, caulks, and structural
rubber elements.
| Examples
of some common areas of application include:
|
| Valve O-rings |
| Heat exchanger gaskets |
| Oilfield downhole
packer elements |
| Automotive and aircraft
engine seals |
| Pipeline flange gaskets |
| Product container
seals |
| Rubber transport
hoses |
| Architectural caulks

CC Technologies has the expertise to
perform all levels of support for guidance with elastomer
technology, from initial selection to performance testing
to post-mortem analysis.
| Services
we offer include: |
| Life estimation testing
|
| Performance testing
in specific environments |
| Chemical compatibility
testing |
| Product selection
|
| New product development |
| Failure analysis
|
| Specification review |
| Expert witness |
| Short courses on
elastomer technology |
Laboratory
testing capabilities include autoclave exposures, retained
mechanical property measurements, compression set, and sealing
integrity in custom fixtures. Our facilities are set up to
enable testing in flammable and toxic gases if necessary.
We have the capability to do accelerated testing on seals
in commercially available valves and products as well as perform
ASTM and NACE standard tests.
