Subdivision
07/30/02
Dublin, Ohio USA: Dr. Carl E. Jaske,
Senior Group Leader at CC Technologies, took over the leadership
of the Pipeline Systems Subdivision of ASME International
on July 1, 2002. ASME International has a worldwide membership
of approximately 125,000 individuals dedicated to promoting
the art and science of mechanical engineering. The Pipeline
Systems Subdivision was formed two years ago to provide a
focal point for engineers involved in the design, maintenance,
and operation of pipelines.
Jaske states, The Pipeline Systems
Subdivision has six major objectives related to pipeline engineering
and management:
- Promote technological progress and
international cooperation.
- Support engineering education and
technical training.
- Provide timely and in-depth exchange
of technical information among researchers and engineers.
- Provide strong leadership within
ASME and liaison with other international organizations.
- Support ASMEs advocacy role.
- Complement and support the maintenance
and development of codes and standards.
"To achieve these objectives, we have
planned a number of technical activities. We will host the
2002 ASME International Pipeline Conference & Exposition
in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on September 29 through October
3. We expect approximately 1000 engineers from more than 30
countries to participate in this prestigious biennial event.
We also will participate in co-sponsor the Rio Pipeline Conference
to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the fall of 2003."
We will continue
working with pipeline clubs in Tulsa, Houston, and elsewhere.
Our members are also working the University of Newcastle and
the University of Calgary to support, promote, and develop
graduate programs in pipeline engineering. We will be writing
an engineering monograph on pipeline engineering that will
be published and distributed by ASME Press.
