The tutorial was taught by CC Technologies’ Director
of Failure Analysis John Beavers, Ph.D., and Senior Project
Manager Michiel Brongers, P.E. and was geared towards engineers,
technicians and managers involved with failure analysis,
maintenance, integrity and reliability assessments. The six-hour
course covered establishment of an action plan for performing
failure analyses and using their results, common failure
types, and mechanisms, the general steps involved in performing
a metallurgical failure analysis, and a systematic approach
to root-cause analysis. Throughout the day, the methods and
procedures were illustrated with practical examples of actual
failures.
This was an excellent opportunity for DNV
offices to work together and share expertise. Jose Pontes,
regional manager for DNV Energy Americas and West Africa,
was enthusiastic about the effort stating, “We encourage
the people in all DNV offices to work together, learn from
each other, and establish links to serve our clients all
over the world.”
CC Technologies hopes to continue this working
relationship with DNV offices throughout the world and share
our corrosion, materials and failure analysis knowledge and
expertise.
