Martin R. Phillips, Ph.D.

Dr. Phillips is a Senior Engineer with CC Technologies Inc. specializing in the area of pipeline integrity. Dr. Phillips is a Physicist with over 21 years experience in the development and use of In-Line Inspection (ILI) technology world wide as a means of detecting defects in oil & gas pipelines.

At CC Technologies Inc, Dr. Phillips’ expertise is directed towards assisting pipeline operators with determining their pipeline integrity issues, selecting the appropriate ILI tool technology to obtain a fit for purpose inspection of each pipeline segment and using the final inspection report and reporting software to determine fitness fro service.

Dr. Phillips has an in depth knowledge of both magnetic and ultrasonic ILI tool technologies used for detecting metal loss or cracking (SCC and fatigue). He has been involved in the development of ILI tools, analysis software and client reporting software as well as the development of ILI tool specifications and final inspection report specifications. He has analyzed and reported on MFL magnetic inspection data.

Dr. Phillips has also worked on the development of Integrity Management Plans in compliance with the DOT 49 CFR Regulations on Pipeline Management in High Consequence Areas. In addition he has worked on the application of the industry codes for the assessment of metal loss, the use probability of exceedance (POE) methodology, corrosion growth assessment and fatigue crack growth.
