Dr. John Beavers

NACE International honored John Beavers with the prestigious Fellow Honor on March 31st at CORROSION/2004, the organization’s 59th annual conference to be held in New Orleans, Louisiana. Each year the NACE Fellow Honor is given in recognition of distinguished contributions in the fields of corrosion and its prevention, and to develop a broadly based forum for technical and professional leaders to serve as advisors to the Association.

Dr. Beavers, Chief Technology Officer for CC Technologies, Dublin, Ohio, is being recognized for his outstanding contributions to corrosion science and engineering for improved corrosion prevention and control. A member of NACE since 1978, Beavers has been active in numerous technical committees and symposia. He has over 100 publications in corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, cathodic protection, and integrity – primarily with respect to underground pipelines. In addition to participation on NACE technical committees, Beavers has been active in its administration committees and has held various elected positions with the Southwestern Ohio Section.

He obtained his BS in metallurgical engineering with highest honors from the University of Illinois where he also obtained his PhD. He received the 2002 Distinguished Research Award from the Pipeline Research Council International (PRCI) and in 1993, received the ASME OMAE Award in Recognition of Outstanding Originality and Significance in a paper presented in Glasgow, Scotland.

NACE International, the Corrosion Society, is a professional technical society dedicated to promoting public safety, protecting the environment and reducing the economic impact of corrosion by advancing the knowledge of corrosion engineering and science. Established in 1943, NACE has more than 15,000 members worldwide and offers technical training and certification programs, sponsors conferences, and produces industry standards and reports, publications and software.
