Ray Davies has joined CC Technologies
as Vice President of Business Development with a focus
in North America. Ray’s
31 years of experience in bringing together the management
and technical aspects of mechanical integrity of both
pipelines and facilities will assist in the further
growth of CC Technologies, particularly in the quality
assurance aspects of systems and industry standards
such as ASME B318.S.
Ray was formerly the Global Pipeline
Manager of DNV and has led projects or served as a team
member in numerous and diverse operating and regulatory
environments principally in Europe and North America. He
was project manager for a ConocoPhillips project related
to integrity management of pipelines, refineries and offshore
structures throughout the world. He has also assisted Pipeline
Operators in North America in the development and business
case justification of integrity management programs targeting
high consequence areas. Ray was part of the DNV project
team that developed a benchmarking service that assesses
the entire integrity management system and helps Pipeline
Operators achieve the right balance between preserving
safety and the environment whilst still operating in a
cost effective and competitive way. In his previous role
he has been instrumental in developing DNV’s global
pipeline strategy including the interaction with CC Technologies.
Ray graduated in 1972 from London
University with an honors degree in Metallurgy, Materials
and Business Studies. His initial industry experience focused
on the application of computerized non destructive inspection
and enhancing the probability of defect detection of techniques
such as acoustic emission and computerized ultrasonics.
This served as a valuable input to the subsequent development
of risk based inspection and the use of probabilistic methods
for remaining life and fitness-for-service. In the last
10 years, Ray has focused on the application of management
systems for integrity management and business optimization.
He has published numerous papers on subjects ranging from
acoustic emission and probability of failure to management
systems and risk based decision making. He is the co-author
with Frank Bird of the book “Safety
and the Bottom Line” and has been a keynote speaker
at NASA’s Safety and Quality seminars. Most recently
Ray was co-author and presenter of the ASME B318.S web-based
session organized by the Southern Gas Association and covering
Quality Assurance, Management of Change and Performance Measurement.
