An accurate, inexpensive, and
easily installed alternative for monitoring the effectiveness
of cathodic protection on pipelines and other underground
structures.
Design based on continuing research
for Pipeline Research Committee (PRC) International.
Installation
in an augered hole minimizes soil disturbance and allows
the rapid (6-12 months) achievement of representative
steady-state conditions.
No interruption
of cathodic protection current to the structure is required
for monitoring.
| Suitable for:
|
| Enhanced monitoring
of trouble spots |
| Locations where
an accurate off-potential reading would be impossible
|
| General monitoring
|
| Reliable under
adverse conditions including: |
| Directly bonded
sacrificial anodes |
| Stray currents
|
| Telluric currents
|
| Multiple pipelines
in the right-of-way |
|

Coupons may
be placed directly over, at mid-line, or at the bottom
line of the pipe being monitored. The unique parallel
axis coupon configuration minimizes error in the IR
drop measurements.
Accurate
data logging for:
- On-potential
(E on) of the structure and coupon assembly
- Off potential
(e off) of the coupon
- Potential
of the native coupon.
- Coupon current
pick-up (cathodic protection) or discharge
- Depolarization/Polizarization
