One
of the significant problems facing the world today is the
decay of our infrastructure. A major component of this decay
is the degradation of bridges and highways, especially the
deterioration of concrete brought on by corrosion of the embedded
reinforcing steel. Through proper design, this problem can
be minimized and life expectancies dramatically increased
in new structures. For existing structures, cost effective
corrosion control methods and structural repairs can dramatically
extend the life of the structure.
When it comes to corrosion
and corrosion control of reinforcing steel in concrete, CC
Technologies is the industry leader. Our staff includes registered
engineers and NACE International certified specialists and
technicians.
Our research and testing
division has conducted numerous federally funded studies to
characterize the degradation mode of concrete structures,
as well as to establish repair strategies for existing structures
and prevention strategies for new structures. Research has
been conducted on cathodic protection, concrete mix design,
epoxy coated reinforcement and inhibiting admixtures.
Our engineering division
has performed studies on bridges, parking garages, tunnels,
intake canals, dock structures, buildings, shopping malls,
hospitals, large diameter concrete pipe, and various industrial
facilities; all to establish the extent of deterioration and
its contributing factors. These surveys are combined with
structural analysis to establish repair strategies which include
the use of coatings, cathodic protection, membranes, and inhibitors.
