Dr.
Agrawal has supervised and conducted corrosion and electrochemical
research for several industry supported organizations and
agencies of the U. S. Government. These include the Electric
Power Research Institute, Gas Research Institute, Department
of Energy, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and National Science
Foundation. He regularly provides technical consulting services
to the chemical and paper industries and manufacturers of
heating-ventilation-air conditioning appliances on their corrosion
problems. He is also experienced in process design of caustic-chlorine
plants.
Dr. Agrawal has evaluated corrosion
and stress-corrosion cracking properties of tubular steels
for deep sour gas wells, for a group program that was supported
by over eighty clients. Investigated mechanisms of corrosion
and stress-corrosion cracking damage in components from many
nuclear power plants, including Three Mile Island Unit 1.
In these research projects, Dr. Agrawal has utilized state-of-the-art
techniques in corrosion, electrochemistry, metallography,
micro-analysis with electron beam instruments (e.g. SEM, EDS,
and XPS), and conventional analytical techniques.
